The bottom line
Keep the brokerage tools. The hole is almost always the public URL.
A Compass, KW, eXp, Real, or RE/MAX login can be a real CRM. The page at brokerage.com/your-name is still their page. If you leave, it does not come with you.
This is not “leave your brokerage.” It is “own the front door.”
What the big brands actually give you (September 2026)
Compass. Home Platform is the agent operating system rolling to company-owned Coldwell Banker, Corcoran, Sotheby’s International Realty, and @properties (Compass newsroom, July 2026). Compass One is the client dashboard — a different product. Franchise offices are a later wave. The profile is still Compass’s URL.
Keller Williams. Command is the hub. Official KW Answers (updated April 29, 2026): a firstname.kw.com address forwards only. Change the subdomain and the old one can be recycled. Rejig.AI is a named listing-content partner on KW press — it is not an owned website.
eXp Realty. CRM of Choice: BoldTrail, Lofty, or Cloze inside the standard tech fee (dollar unpublished on the public pages we opened). Cloze does not include IDX. Mira is eXp’s assistant. You still need a site you take with you.
The Real Brokerage. Help center: the onereal.com profile does not collect leads. Preferred vendors have included Lofty and Luxury Presence (re-verify on your offer). Real closed the RE/MAX Holdings combination on August 24, 2026. The office is still independent; the parent changed.
RE/MAX. Join-tech page: MAXTech powered by BoldTrail. Same rule: confirm what is on the desktop this week.
GUIDE Real Estate (Sacramento) is a local example of the same pattern: the brokerage provides Lofty; agent IDX lives at {name}.guidenorcal.com, powered by Lofty. The corporate marketing site is a separate vendor. Do not confuse Sacramento GUIDE with other “Guide” recruiting sites.
The five questions
- Whose domain is in the address bar?
- Whose Meta / Google ad account is it?
- If you left tomorrow, what survives?
- What percent of the brokerage suite do you actually use each week?
- Total monthly spend: CRM + site + ads + ISA + content + listing media.
When the brokerage stack is enough
- You are early, the desk already funds a CRM, and Instagram plus referrals are the whole play.
- You do not need a site AI systems can cite under your own name this year.
When an owned site is the better next dollar
- Buyers, sellers, and AI are searching your name, not the brokerage template.
- You want listing pages that stay up after the listing closes.
- You want ads on an account you keep.
- You want the URL to survive a merger, a desk change, or a rebrand.
Espo builds that site, the CRM around it, and the listing launches. Live in about 21 days. Your data out within 48 hours. Brokerage pages: Compass, Keller Williams, eXp, Real, RE/MAX.
The one thing to do
Open your public page in a private window. If the URL is not a domain you own, that is the gap. See it on your site or book a call.
